According to reports from Kicker, Mainz sporting director Rouven Schroder has denied rumours linking the club with Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry.

The 21-year-old was in fantastic form for Germany at the Rio Olympics, claiming six goals in five appearances as his country reached the final – where they lost to tournament hosts Brazil.

But it remains to be seen whether the powerful winger will be a part of Arsene Wenger’s plans this season after managing just one Premier League appearance on loan with West Bromwich Albion last term.

Kicker suggest a loan move to Mainz, who finished sixth in the Bundesliga last season, has recently been speculated.

But the German publication quote sporting director Rouven Schroder as replying when quizzed on the recent rumours; “There is nothing to it.

Gnabry made his first-team debut for the Gunners in 2012 but his progress has been hampered by injury problems.
