Arsenal are keeping tabs on Atalanta centre-back Franck Kessie, according to the player’s agent.
The 19-year-old has been one of the star performers for on loan side Serie B Cesena this season and has attracted interest from a number of clubs from around Europe.
Although primarily a centre-back, Kessie can and has been deployed in a number of positions throughout the season with Cesena, including in the midfield, right-back and on the right wing.
The Ivory Coast international has scored three goals in 29 Serie B appearances so far this season, and his agent, George Atangana, has confirmed Arsenal are interested in the teenager’s services.
‘Arsenal have sent scouts to watch him twice.
‘All the big clubs in Italy rate him and he’s got a lot of foreign interest as well.’
Kessie’s contract at Atalanta is set to expire at the end of the season, leaving his future at the Serie A club in serious doubt, with only three months left to run on his existing deal.
Arsenal could do with some defensive reinforcements ahead of next season, but perhaps a more experienced signing would appease the fans.
