ClickWengerArsene Wenger has dropped a massive hint that he could do business when the January transfer window opens.

Arsenal currently sit second in the Premier League, two points behind leaders Leicester City and one behind Manchester City, who they host on Monday night.

However, with up to seven first-team players injured, notably Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin, Wenger has conceded that he may be forced to bolster his existing squad when the transfer window opens next month.

When asked about whether he would be involved in transfer dealing in January, Wenger said:

‘We are open minded.

‘We are not the only ones who can decide about the speed of the transfers.

‘We have to adapt to the availabilities and the speed of negotiations and the willingness of clubs to sell.

‘But we are willing because we are short.’

Prior to injuries to Sanchez, who could possibly be ready for City on Monday, Cazorla, who is ruled out for up to two more months, and Francis Coquelin, who is expected to return in late February, Wenger didn’t want to involve himself this January – even though several fans disagreed with him on the matter, me included.

However, with the busy Christmas schedule just around the corner, it seems the Frenchman has realised that he will need reinforcements, especially if he wishes to continue challenging for the Premier League title.

Of course, Wenger will only pay the right amount of money for the right player, this is his philosophy when it comes to transfer dealings, and the Frenchman will look to do the same next month.
