Arsene WengerStuart Pearce believes it’s Arsenal’s title to lose after brandishing Manchester City ‘inconsistent’.

The Gunners saw off City 2-1 at the Emirates last night and are now just two points adrift of Premier League leaders Leicester City and four above Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

Arsenal have been in fine form as of late, losing just one of their last 11 games, and have people believing that it could well be their year to be crowned Premier League champions after a 12-year wait.

Leicester currently sit atop of the pile and are guaranteed to be number one at Christmas, but Pearce is convinced that the Gunners are the team to beat.

Following Arsenal’s latest victory, Pearce told talkSPORT:

‘What Monday’s result shows, is that Manchester City are too inconsistent to win the league this season, and that Arsenal are the most stable football club in the country at the moment.

‘They’ve won the FA Cup for two years running, their stadium is outstanding, their training ground is outstanding, their bank balance is outstanding and they have consistency with the manager.

‘I think it is Arsenal’s title to lose at this moment, especially with all the other teams around them falling away a touch, with Chelsea being in semi-crisis and the unrest at Manchester United.

‘I think Wenger, with this group of players, could be on the verge of creating another dynasty at the club.’

Despite previous seasons, Arsenal have already shown in this campaign that they are more than capable of competing and beating their title rivals – which is a great sign and pleasing to see for us Gooners. Not only this, but this current squad seem to be very cohesive and fighting for each other – last night’s game was another prime example of this.

However, we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves. Yes, enjoy the win and the position we find ourselves, but things can quickly go sour as it has done in the past for us. There are still a number of games to yet to play. Should we get our players back fit and ready and in the meantime not suffer anymore injuries, then I believe we have a real shot at winning this Premier League title.

Are we the team to beat as Pearce suggests? For the time being, maybe. But there’s a long way to go.
