Michy BatshuayiBad news for Arsene Wenger – Marseille have slapped a massive £35 million price tag on reported Arsenal target Michy Batshuayi.

The 22-year-old is one of the brightest striking prospects in European football and has been watched by several tops clubs from the continent.

The Gunners have previously been linked with a move for the agile forward and continues to do so ahead of the January transfer window.

However, Arsenal, as well as any other potential suitors, have now been told by Marseille president Vincent Labrune that they’ll have to cough up to £35 million to acquire his services.

‘There is not a single top 15 world club that is not interested in Batshuayi.

‘He is one of the most wanted players on the market. There were a lot of offers for him this summer, but he did not want to leave.

‘He is proving himself on the pitch. And if clubs want him then they are going to have to pay up. Around €50m!’

Batshuayi has featured regularly for Marseille this season, recording nine goals and three assists in 12 Ligue and three Europa League starts, and is currently the third top scorer in the top tier of French football, behind both Benjamin Moukandjo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic who have nine to their names.

Many believe Arsenal need to sign a striker this January and with the Belgium international, who still has four-years left to run on his existing deal at the Stade Velodrome, a realistic target for the Gunners, should Wenger and co. cough up £35 million for Batshuayi?
