CalhanogluIf Arsenal want to sign Hakan Calhanoglu then the Gunners will have to splash out at least £29 million for the Turk, this according to Bayer Leverkusen chief executive Michael Schade.

The 21-year-old midfielder was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates over the summer and have supposedly watched the dead-ball specialist on a few occasions already this season.

Calhanoglu has been in impressive form for both club and country this season, scoring six goals and creating three in 22 appearances, and Leverkusen are desperate to hold on to the young starlet who has already been hailed as the ‘new Mesut Ozil’.

Manchester United, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are all credited with some interest in the Turkey international and now Schade has admitted for the first time that the German club might have no option but to sell Calhanoglu – but only for the right price:

‘We want to keep Hakan, but with us there is a pain threshold.’

It has been suggested that a fee of at least £29 million would be enough for Leverkusen to sell.

Let’s see if Arsenal rekindle their interest in him when the January transfer window opens.
