arsenalHere is my Arsenal player rating from tonight’s 2-0 smash and grab win against Bayern Munich:

Petr Cech – Made a couple of invaluable saves throughout and commanded his area superbly as well. Man of the Match for me. 8/10

Hector Bellerin – Really struggled to contain the threat of Douglas Costa and, at times, was made a fool of by the Brazilian’s trickery. Redeemed himself in the second-half and made a gut busting run late on to assist Arsenal’s second. 6.5/10

Per Mertesacker – Kept position excellently throughout the match and read the game well also. 7/10

Laurent Koscielny – Did brilliantly aerially and kept Robert Lewandowski relatively quiet, which is a feat in itself. 7/0

Nacho Monreal – Nullified the threat of Thomas Muller, limiting the German to one noticeable effort in the second half. Kept his defensive discipline and worked hard. 7.5/10

Francis Coquelin – The French midfielder stayed on his feet a lot more than usual and gave the back four that much need protection tonight by keeping his position well. 6.5/10

Santi Cazorla – Knocked the ball about well when he had it and calmed things down when in possession. 6.5/10

Aaron Ramsey – Struggled to get into the game and made Bellerin’s job a lot harder than it had to be by not offering the young right-back support when not in possession. Picked up what looked like a hamstring injury early in the second-half. 5/10

Mesut Ozil – Didn’t have a lot of influence on the ball as much as he would have liked due to the opposition, but the German sealed the win with a late winner. 7/10

Alexis Sanchez – Have to applaud his hunger and energy but did hold the ball for too long at times which led to Bayern breaks. 6.5/10

Theo Walcott – Started off brightly by closing down the Bayern defence and had a couple of efforts on target – a header in particular which was unbelievably kept out by Manuel Neuer – but did fade in the second-half. 6.5/10

SUBS:

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Came on for the injured Ramsey in the 57th minute and kept his defence discipline rather than going forward. Missed a sitter in the dying moments – his blushes were saved however when Ozil’s goal was given by the fifth official. 6/10

Olivier Giroud – On for Theo in the 74th minute and netted the opener in the 77th minute. Held up the ball well and offered the Gunners some height aerially upfront. 7/10

Kieran Gibbs – Replaced Alexis with eight minutes to go and was deployed on the left wing to help out Monreal defensively. 5/10
