Arsenal failed to land a top striker over the summer, but the club are already preparing to sign one when the winter window opens.
The likes of Karim Benzema, Gonzalo Higuain and Edinson Cavani were all linked with a move to the Emirates during the summer, but nothing materialied. Many thought Arsene Wenger would pull something out of the hat on deadline day, but fans were left disappointed.
However, it was revealed after the summer window closed that the Gunners did make their interest known in Juventus forward Simone Zaza, but they were unable to get a deal done in time.
But reports on the net now suggest Arsenal will go back in for the Italian with a £22 million offer in January.
The 24-year-old only signed for Juve this summer after two successful seasons with Sassuolo previously, but he is behind Alvaro Morata, Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic in the striking pecking order.
And with Euro 2016 just around the corner, Zaza could be tempted to make the switch to Arsenal, if it meant receiving regular first-team football.
Wenger will be criticised for his failure to sign a striker in the summer window, especially after hearing Danny Welbeck will be out of action until Christmas, but the Frenchman could redeem himself if he manages to sign one in during the winter – if of course we are still in with a shot of winning the Premier League title.
