Ajax want to know the availability of Wojciech Szczesny, as the Amsterdam club prepare to lose Jasper Cillessen to Manchester United.
David de Gea is expected to remain at United for the upcoming season and will have to wait until his contract runs out next summer to join the La Liga giants.
But Ajax have now begun to explore their goalkeeping options this summer as they expect Cillessen, 26, to swap life in Holland for Manchester.
And one option that Ajax are looking at is Szczesny, with director of football and former Gunner Marc Overmars making contact with his former club about the Polish keeper’s availability.
Szczesny lost his place in Arsene Wenger’s side at the start of 2015 following a smoking incident in the changing rooms after the New Year’s Day defeat to Southampton.
Despite the summer addition of Petr Cech, Szczesny has stated that he wants to remain at the Emirates and fight for his place. But the Pole may find himself warming the bench more often than not this season, with Cech now viewed as Wenger’s and the fans’ new first-choice goalkeeper.
A loan move for either Szczesny or Ospina to Ajax would be ideal, with the other remaining to compete with Cech for a starting place.
