‘It would be nice to move to Arsenal’

Victor WanyamaVictor Wanyama has reiterated his desire to join Arsenal this summer, saying a move to the Emirates ‘would be nice’.

The Gunners were linked with a move for the 23-year-old in the past before he joined Southampton two years ago and in April claimed:

‘(Arsene) Wenger has been talking about me. He has let it be known he would like to sign me this summer’.

The Kenyan international has become one of Southampton’s most important players since joining the Saints in 2013, making a total 50 appearances in all competitions (26 this season), but has once again opened the door to a move to Arsenal:

Speaking on Kenyan TV, Wanyama said:

‘It would be nice to move to Arsenal. But at this moment such decisions can only be made by Southampton and that is where my concentration as a player is.’

Arsenal are believed to be in the market for a holding midfielder this summer to complement and challenge Francis Coquelin for the defensive midfield role, so a move for Wanyama could well be on the cards for Wenger, who is also keeping tabs on Morgan Schneiderlin and reportedly Monaco’s Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Wanyama has made it very clear he wants to join Arsenal – it’s now up to Wenger to grant the powerful midfielder his wish.
