Joel CampbellJoel Campbell admits he feels ‘honoured’ to be linked with a move to Real Sociedad.

The 22-year-old forward spent the second-half of last season on loan to Villarreal, where he made a total of 22 appearances for the La Liga club.

Campbell is now back at Arsenal and even though he signed an extension on his contract before joining Villarreal over the winter, the forward’s future at the Emirates remains in limbo.

But a number of European clubs are interested in his services this summer, including David Moyes’ Real Sociedad, the Costa Rican international has admitted his delight at attracting the Basque club:

On his future and the link to Sociedad, Campbell said:

‘It’s something that is not in my hands.

‘But in the club to which I belong.’

‘It’s always an honour when such an important club such as Real Sociedad values you.’

It remains to be seen what Arsene Wenger decides to do with Campbell this summer. The Frenchman does value his ability and sees a lot of potential in the young forward, but is reluctant to give him regular football, and this is where the problem lies. Campbell wants to play football on a regular basis and if he can’t get this at Arsenal then he has to think about leaving the club in order to do so.

Wenger may opt to send him out on loan for the FIFTH time this summer, but Campbell may not approve of this and ask for a permanent transfer away.

I can’t see Campbell playing for us next season and for this reason, despite his potential, I believe Arsenal have to consider selling him.

Campbell would love a move to Sociedad this summer and Wenger should let this happen, or at least hear what the Spanish club have to offer.
