A £21M offer Arsenal MUST refuse

|

Laurent KoscielnyEarlier this month, it was reported in France Football that new Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez wanted to make Laurent Koscielny his first summer signing.

And with Sergio Ramos being heavily linked with a move to Manchester United following a breakdown in negotiations over a new deal, Real are now ready to launch a £21 million offer for Koscielny.

The Frenchman signed for Arsenal from Lorient in 2010 and has become a key member of the Gunners’ defence.

But if Real do table a £21 million offer for the French centre-back this summer, should Arsenal take it?

In one word, no!

Koscielny is our best defender at the club and is arguably one of the finest currently in the Premier League. Yes, the 29-year-old defender does make a few errors and also goes into tackles recklessly at times, but if we lose him to Real this summer then we would be taking a step back.

We want to challenge for the title next season and in order to do so we need to keep our best players at the club, and Koscielny is one of them in my book.

I’m sure Arsene Wenger will reject any advances from Real as he looks to strengthen his squad this summer. However, the worry is that Koscielny, who despite signing new long-term contract last year, might well be tempted to move to the most prestigious club in world football. This could be Koscielny’s once-in-a-lifetime offer to join Real, and Wenger will have a tough task in convincing him that Arsenal is still the place to be.
