WengerNigel Winterburn believes Jurgen Klopp would be perfect for Arsenal but should stick with Arsene Wenger until his current contract expires in 2017.

Klopp has been linked with a string of high-profile clubs which include Arsenal after announcing that he will leave Dortmund at the end of the season.

The charismatic German has been touted as a perfect successor to Wenger by pundits and fans alike, but the Frenchman still has two years left to run on his existing deal at the Emirates.

Although Wenger is highly unlikely to step down from his position, Winterburn reckons Klopp would be a huge success story at Arsenal.

But the former Arsenal legend wants to see the Frenchman see out the next two years at the Emirates:

‘If Arsene Wenger decides to step down or move upstairs, then obviously he’s a manager with the credentials, the way his teams play, I think a lot of people would think it’s a perfect fit.

‘I would like Arsene Wenger to see out the next two years, and see where we are then, but obviously, with Klopp leaving Dortmund, it sort of puts the conundrum in because he’s been linked with Arsenal before, particularly when Arsenal were struggling. Wenger was coming under severe pressure, so I understand where it’s coming from but I would be surprised if there was a change this summer.

‘This year we’ve just had, in terms of the spending power and the players coming in, and the next two, where we’ll see the vision of where Arsenal are going to go and where they’ll be after that.’

Many Arsenal fans want to see change and have called on the club to sign Klopp to replace Wenger this summer.

However, after revolutionising the club’s style of play and making the move to the Emirates, Wenger is also idolised by all the Arsenal faithful, despite his recent failures and futile attempts to recapture the Premier League title.
