Yaya SanogoArsene Wenger has confirmed he’s held talks with Steve Bruce last week over a possible deal for the services of Yaya Sanogo this month.

Wenger is eager for the 21-year-old to get some more game-time and experience under his belt and says Hull are looking into the possibility of signing the youngster on loan until the end of the season.

Sanogo has been heavily linked with a loan move to Bordeaux, with their club president insisting the forward wants to join the Ligue 1 side.

However, Wenger would prefer the France Under-21 international to join a Premier League side and hopes a deal can be done before the transfer window closes:

‘Yaya Sanogo will go out on loan. My option is preferably in England and he will certainly go to a Premier League club.

‘Hull are one of the options and I spoke to Steve (Bruce) last week who is interested, but they have not come back to me about it.’

Bruce has since confirmed his interest in the French striker.

Wenger clearly sees something in Sanogo but cannot guarantee him a regular place in the starting line-up, and a loan move seems the best option for the striker at this stage of his career.

A move to another Premier League side would of course be more ideal for Sanogo, as he would gain experience in the country and league he’s currently operating in, but Wenger should not dismiss other options available to him.

Crystal Palace are the only other side in the Premier League that have reportedly been linked with a loan move for Sanogo – hopefully a few more teams near the bottom of the table will make their voices heard in the upcoming weeks.
