4472517Here are my Arsenal player ratings from this afternoon’s 2-2 home draw with Manchester City:

Wojciech Szczesny – Could not do anything for the first goal but was a little at fault for the second having been in a poor position from the City corner. 6/10

Mathieu Debuchy – Defended immensely and supported well when going forward. Picked up what looked like a bad injury in the closing stages of the match. 7/10

Per Mertesacker – Positioned well throughout but at times could not handle the pace of City’s forwards. 6/10

Laurent Koscielny – The French centre-back dealt reasonably well with Sergio Aguero despite the Argentine opening the scoring. 6/10

Nacho Monreal – Got forward well and but struggled defensively today. Booked. 5/10

Mathieu Flamini – Protected the back four admirably but a lapse of concentration caused City to get in behind and score their first. 6/10

Jack Wilshere – Always wanted the ball and drove the ball forward superbly to get things going for the Gunners. Scored a cheeky chip over Joe Hart from a tight angle having weaved through the City defence beforehand. 9/10

Aaron Ramsey – Despite assisting Wilshere’s goal, the Welshman was pretty much anonymous today. 5/10

Alexis Sanchez – Has bags of energy and showed it today. Was everywhere. Going forward, getting back to help the back four and capped off an impressive performance with a stunning volley. 8/10

Mesut Ozil – Was very quite and didn’t get into the game. Made a few decent passes here and there but took a backseat today. 5/10

Danny Welbeck – Had a decent debut and nearly got his first for Arsenal if not for the post. Made some good runs but faded towards the end of the match. 6.5/10

SUBS:

Calum Chambers – Came on for the injured Debuchy with 10 minutes and did well. 5/10

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Replaced Welbeck on the 87th minute. Think he touched the ball once. 5/10

Mikel Arteta – On for Flamini in the 94th minute and conceded a late foul near the corner. 5/10

Flamini more like 2, Ozil the same and Ramsey 3. Nothing was screened for the defense. Careless and ponderous performance. Lucky to leave with our pride intact. Looks like it will be a very difficult season for us. 4th place is under threat…

For me Jack held onto the ball for far too long & got caught in possession far to often. Sanchez was awesome. Quick feet, great pace and a fantastic work rate. Ozil just CBA. Sanchez worth every penny, Ozil just not putting in the work rate for his money. Wellbeck worked hard & just needs to better understand the Arsenal way of playing, and that will come in time. He worked hard today. Overall a good performance today. Gooner
