Cheick TioteArsenal are interested in signing Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote, according to the Daily Express.

The 28-year-old is believed to have attracted the attention of Arsene Wenger, amid reports suggesting that the player has become unsettled with life at Newcastle in recent months and that his agent is open to listening to offers this summer.

A number of clubs from Russia, Germany and Spain are interested in the industrial defensive midfielder, and it is thought that Arsene Wenger, who is a long-term admirer of Tiote, is consider a move for the Ivory Coast international.

Arsenal have been linked with several midfielders already this season with the supposed pursuit of Sami Khedira making the headlines in recent weeks. But Wenger has denied any links to the German and now appears to be eyeing up a move for Tiote instead, who would come at a cheaper price and already has Premier League experience under his belt.

Alan Pardew would hate to lose the services of Tiote, who is valued at around £8 million, but would not stand in his way if he wants to leave Newcastle this summer, despite the player having three-years left to run on his existing deal at St James’ Park.

Although Tiote, in my opinion, is not a better player than Khedira, a move for the Ivorian makes more sense, as the former is already adapted to the English, comes at a price three times less than the latter and will not demand a huge wage package.

He would be a decent signing for Arsenal.
