Inter set sights on Arsenal forward

|

Lukas PodolskiInter Milan are weighing up a summer move for Lukas Podolski, according to reports in Italy.

The 28-year-old forward joined Arsenal from FC Koln in 2012 and although he enjoyed a productive debut year for the Gunners, contributing 16 goals and 11 assists in 42 total appearances, Podolski has struggled to cement a regular place in Arsene Wenger’s side this season, starting just five Premier League games so far this season.

And Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb.com claims Inter are considering ending Podolski’s time at the Emirates this summer.

Inter owner Erick Thohir is ready to give the Serie A club major shake-up in terms of personnel and has targeted Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra and Bacary Sagna, and it now appears the Indonesian businessman has added Podolski to his list.

It remains to be seen whether Wenger will allow Podolski to leave, with the German international tied down to the club until 2016. But despite dismissing a move away from Arsenal, the forward may well reconsider his options at the end of the season after being left frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities this season.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Podolski decides to call it quits this summer, as the German seems to be spending more time on the bench than on the pitch.
