arsenal-badgeMy Arsenal player ratings from today’s 2-0 win against Crystal Palace (feel free to argue or agree with me):

Wojciech Szczesny – Never did much. Only time he was called into action was when he made a close range save from Cameron Jerome’s header in the second 45. 7/10

Bacary Sagna – Struggled at times to keep up with Yannick Bolasie and was positioned poor a few times throughout. But the Frenchman did well defensively when called upon and always offered an overlap. 7/10

Per Mertesacker – Won pretty much everything in the air and read the game superbly. 8/10

Laurent Koscielny – Made some strong tackles during the match and kept things neat and tidy from the back. Another assured performance from the French centre-back. 7/10

Nacho Monreal – The Spaniard looks to be improving week in week out. Did well offensively and defensively throughout. 7/10

Mikel Arteta – Was caught napping at times when in possession and lost pretty much every tackle he went in for. Expect better from a more experienced head. 5/10

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Showed us today why he wants to be playing in the middle of the park rather than out wide. Displayed good strength, passing range and movement throughout. Bagged a brace in the process. Man of the Match. 9/10

Santi Cazorla – Made some good runs and always looked to drive the team forward, but have seen him perform a whole lot better in the past. Looks a little jaded. 6/10

Lukas Podolski – Busted a gut on the left wing, up and down, down and up, and offered the side more stability in attack. Made some intelligent runs but couldn’t find a goal. 7/10

Mesut Ozil – Dictated play with his passing and always looked to feed others rather than shoot himself. Looks uninspired at the moment. 6/10

Olivier Giroud – Possibly the worst performance I have seen Giroud have in quite sometime. Wasn’t able to link well with others around him, neither hold the ball up, and his first touch was appalling. Needs help. 4/10

SUBS:

Tomas Rosicky – Came on for Podolski in the 71st minute to add some guile in midfield. N/A

Kieran Gibbs – Came on for Ozil in the 84th minute to preserve the 2-0 lead. N/A

Nicklas Bendtner – Replaced Giroud in the 84th minute. N/A
