Mario BalotelliReports in Italy claim Arsenal are preparing to launch a €30 million bid for Mario Balotelli at the end of the season.

Arsenal were last week linked with a summer move for the controversial AC Milan striker and it is believed the Gunners’ new kit manufacturer Puma are prepared to lend a helping hand by stumping up cash to see one of their high-profile clients move to club sponsored by the German multinational company.

Sport Mediaset claims Arsene Wenger has already met with the Italian’s agent, Mino Raiola, to discuss a potential move in the summer.

The Italian website also says that Arsenal are prepared to splash out €30 million (£24.6 million) to land the former Inter Milan and Manchester forward, with some of the funds thought to be coming from Puma.

AC Milan look highly unlikely to finish in the top four and play Champions League football next season and although the 23-year-old only made the move to the San Siro last summer, it is understood the Italian international will consider his options over the summer.

One cannot predict the course Arsene Wenger will turn to when it comes to transfer. If actually he wants this Guy, to avoid competition from other clubs during the summer, what stops him doing the business now like he did in the transfer of Podolski, i.e. buying the player ahead of time.

This is a tough one. No, Ballotelli is not better than Giroud but he’s young and he’s good, his personality makes him cheap, and Wenger’s man-management might be just the thing to help him reach his full potential.

On the other hand, Arsenal almost never buy the players they’re linked with. In January they were linked with Jackson Martinez, Diego Costa, Julian Draxler, Fabian Schar, Mirko Vucinic, and Javier Hernandez. They signed… wait for it… no one.

Last summer they were linked with Gonzalo Higuain, Yohann Cabaye, Wayne Rooney, Luis Suarez, Sam Kedhiri, Karim Benzema, Maouane Fellaini and they bought… Mezut Ozil and signed Mathieu Flamini and Yaya Sanogo free transfers.

They don’t need nine players. They need three (four if Vermaelen leaves), a forward, a winger with pace, a right back and a defensive midfielder. A center back if the captain leaves.

Balotelli is a risk, but not the worst name out there. Would Balotelli, Seamus Coleman, and Alex Song be terrible?
