Why Wenger shouldn’t rule out a loan move for this forward

Mirko VucinicDespite several reports suggesting otherwise, Arsene Wenger has dismissed a move for Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic this January.

With Theo Walcott out for the remainder of the season, Arsenal are thought to be on the lookout for another striker to help out Olivier Giroud upfront and several reports have claimed that representatives from the north London club have met up with Vucinic’s agent over a possible loan move to the Emirates this month.

However, after Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Fulham yesterday afternoon, Wenger denied any deal was close, especially for the Juventus forward.

Quoted on SkySports.com, the Frenchman said:

‘We are looking at potential possibilities for us to get someone in, but we are not especially in for Vucinic.’

But would a loan move for the 30-year-old Montenegrin be an astute one by Wenger to consider this January?

In my opinion, I think it’s an option Arsene shouldn’t rule out.

Vucinic is a vastly experienced forward – having played for Lecce and Roma for a number of seasons before signing for Juve three years ago – and one that has a knack for scoring goals. In addition, the Montenegrin is an intelligent two-footed footballer who is also creative and can play in a number of forward positions

He has, however, fallen out-of-favour at Juve since the arrival of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente, and needless to say it hasn’t been the Montenegro international’s most productive season of his career. He has only managed to make eight Serie A appearances so far this season (four as a starter) and has found the back of the net twice – doesn’t make for good reading doesn’t it.

However, a loan move wouldn’t be the worst decision Wenger has made during his Arsenal tenure, and I would prefer to see him come in over the lethargic Dimitar Berbatov any day.

He isn’t good enough for Arsenal.

Hasn’t played enough and wouldn’t offer competition to Giroud.

Oh I’m sure Wenger and his world-wide network of scouts are grateful for your advice gunnersphere….pffft

Do you know what a blog is Dave? Someone who writes their opinions on a certain subject, that’s it.

Of course Wenger isn’t going to read this you clown.

As for Vucinic, I don’t want him at the club – don’t think he is any better than what we got already
