Nemanja MaticArsenal have joined the race to sign Benfica midfielder Nemanja Matic.

talkSPORT.com suggests the Gunners will battle Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd and Real Madrid for the 25-year-old Serbian.

Matic, who once played for Chelsea earlier in his career, has been linked with a move back to the Premier League this January with Arsenal believed to have made the first move by contacting the midfielder’s agent Dejan Mitrovic about a possible deal.

Matic left Chelsea for Benfica which saw David Luiz go the opposite way back in 2011, and has impressed Europe’s finest with his performances for the Portuguese outfit.

Matic has made 56 appearances in all competitions for The Eagles thus far, finding the back of the net just the six times.

However, with four-years still left to run on his existing deal at Estadio da Luz, interested clubs will have to fork out at least £20 million for the robust midfielder this month.

We could do with another natural defensive-minded midfielder coming in, but is Matic really worth £20 million?

Here is a video of Matic to help you decide whether or not we should go for him this month:
