Diego CostaIt’s been reported Arsenal are keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid’s goal machine Diego Costa. It’s also been revealed lately that the Brazilian has a £32 million release clause in his current contract.

And with Arsenal in desperate need of striking options, with Olivier Giroud being heavily relied on to bag the goals, should, even if it is thought that the club do not wish to, activate the forward’s release clause?

The Daily Mail suggests Arsene Wenger will send scouts to watch the 25-year-old’s next two games against Sant Andreu and Levante with a view to possibly sign him.

Costa has been in superb form for Atletico, scoring 22 goals in 21 games in all competitions so far this season, 17 coming in 16 La Liga games, level with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Although the striker’s contract does not expire until 2018, any side who offer £32 million to Atletico for Costa’s services will have permission to speak to the player.

So after failing to sign Luis Suarez over the summer and look highly unlikely to acquire the Uruguayan in January, should Arsenal table a £32 million bid for Costa instead?

I for one would love to see him at Arsenal – the guy is a goal machine. He also possesses great strength and technical ability as well as being two-footed.

His £32 million price-tag is worth its weight in gold, in fact, I think it’s a bargain in today’s game. We can afford the transfer fee and certainly the player’s wages (believed to be around £50-k-a-week).

Although Suarez would be the dream signing for many, he won’t be leaving Liverpool this season, and believe Costa is an ideal and more realistic signing instead for us this January.

Activate the clause and bring in one of the most prolific strikers in Europe to fire us to silverware this season.

£32 million for Costa?

Would he be an ideal signing for us?
