Arsenal are in pole position to nab Barcelona youngster Antonio Sanabria in January after the Catalan club failed to match the Gunners offer.
Arsene Wenger has been tracking the Paraguay international for a few months but have to fend off competition from AC Milan to land the 17-year-old in the winter transfer window.
It is believed Arsenal would only have to pay around £400,000 to Barca for the young forward and although the Spanish outfit want to keep Sanabria put he could well be the latest youth star to join Arsene Wenger’s side from the Camp Nou.
Since taking charge at Arsenal back in 1996, Wenger has managed to snap up several starlets from Barcelona in the past which include the likes of Jon Toral Harper, Hector Bellerin, Fran Merida, Cesc Fabregas, with the latest name set to join the Gunners from Barca at the end of the season Julio Pleguezuelo Selva.
Sanabria, who has been with the Camp Nou outfit since the age of 13, has made five appearances for Barcelona’s B team so far this season and has yet to feature for the senior side.
