Forget about Bernard, give this young Gun a shot instead!

Ryo MiyaichiAccording to Bernard’s father, the Atletico Mineiro winger would rather seal a move to Porto than Arsenal.

Should we be concerned? Perhaps a little, especially if we lose Gervinho to Roma in the upcoming weeks.

Should the Ivorian winger be sold then a replacement will be needed. But it doesn’t look like it will be Bernard. Not if what his dad is claiming is true.

However, it seems Arsene Wenger has someone else in mind that can make an impact this season…Ryo Miyaichi.

Last Friday, Wenger believes the Japan international, who has been loaned out to Feyenoord and Wigan since joining The Gunners in 2011, it is now time for the 20-year-old winger to progress at Arsenal.

After Arsenal’s 2-1 friendly win over Urawa Red Diamonds, the Frenchman said:

‘He did well, he’s sharp and he’s in the team. I like him.

‘I believe that he is in a position now where he needs to play to have a good chance to play at the top level.

‘At the moment he stays in the squad. If we buy more players I will reassess the situation. At the moment though, he will definitely stay with us.’

To be honest, I’d rather give Miyaichi a shot this season rather than sign another young winger (Bernard).

If Miyaichi is as good as Wenger says he is then why not give him some games this season in the minor cup games and in the Premier League against the ‘lesser’ sides? Why go out and splash the cash on another player when you have raw talent waiting in the wings.

I really want to see what this kid is capable of when he is unleashed.

how about not signing a new young winger or playing miyaichi? how about spending some of our millions on a proven winger with the ability to help arsenal be competitive and challange for honours? too much to ask? why?

Give Miyachi a chance and spend money on a strong central midfielder and a centre back.

Correction from my earlier post: Apparently Chelsea’s Lucas Piazon has dual nationality – Brazilian – Italian, and thus he wouldn’t require a visa.

During the Asian tour, Ryo was just coming back from a nasty ankle injury. He wasn’t match fit, but considering he was one of the best players in the Dutch league 2 years ago, I’d like to see him feature for Arsenal this season.
