£22 million – this is the sum Atletico Mineiro have quoted to sell Brazilian starlet Bernard.
Arsenal, Spurs, Shakhtar Donetsk and Porto have all been linked with a move for the 20-year-old.
And Mineiro’s director, Eduardo Malu, has told the four clubs that the Brazilian outfit that they will only consider selling Bernard if an offer of £22 million arrives this summer:
‘The president has already made very clear, if an offer of £22m arrives, he is going to sell and we will buy another player.
‘If this offer did not appear, Bernard will stay at Atletico. He is young and can leave at the end of the year.’
However, despite increasing interest in Bernard, the diminutive winger remains focused on matters at Mineiro, saying his future depends on whether the club want him or not:
‘I’ll keep working until the board decides something about the transfer.
‘There are offers from English football, Shakhtar and Porto.
‘I have said a thousand times that I want to stay, but it doesn’t depend on me now.
‘I made it clear that, if I stay or not, I wanted to leave here with an important title.
‘It’s up to God to decide if I stay or not, up to God, Atletico Mineiro’s presidency and the board.’
With Gervinho highly likely to depart Arsenal for Roma, bringing a winger may well be a priority for Arsene Wenger this summer.
But would Bernard fit the bill at the Emirates? More importantly, is he worth his £22 million valuation that Mineiro has slapped on him?

I have watched clips of this guy, and he will be a great addition to our squad, with him running at defences form the left flank and that ability to get in the box and getting into the goal mix. For a short man, he even scores loads of goals with his head, compared to Gervinho that is now Roma bound. I think he is by far an upgrade on Gervinho and Arshavin combined. Arsene, get up your Arse, and do a deal quickly and stop dragging your long legs doing nothing, instead of saying even with the present squad we can challenge. Enough of your excuses, get your wallet out and go fetch: Rami (CB), Fellaini (MID), Bernanrd (ATK), Suarez (ATK) and Ceasar (GK). The time to act is NOW.

At first I was excited. Buy Bernard I cried. Then under the Bodhi Tree as I meditated to become enlightened I saw clearly and realised the unrealisable.
