Are we a ‘stronger’ outfit despite yet making any top signings?

Wojciech SzczesnyWhile many of us may disagree, Wojciech Szczesny insists Arsenal HAVE strengthened over the summer despite making any big signings yet.

The 23-year-old Pole believes good times lie ahead because no top names have left the Emirates this summer like previous ones.

He told The Sun:

‘You try not to think of the sagas – Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie and Samir Nasri.

‘But it’s always in your mind you’ll lose another top player.

‘This time, everyone is talking about who Arsenal are bringing in. That makes us feel stronger.’

I can concur with Szczesny’s comments – a lot of deadwood has already been shifted but none of our integral players have been linked with moves away from our club, and this can only be good.

While we look to be keeping our top players put, and the team continue to gel, the need for a few additions in the upcoming weeks, preferably before the season starts, is a must.

Hopefully we see some new faces arrive, the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Luis Suarez, Marouane Fellaini. If we can manage to attain one or two of them then we will be considered serious title contenders this season. If we have a stable squad already, why not improve it in the areas which need it and compete for silverware this season?

lets see…we have a slow striker in giroud, an aging defensive midfielder in arteta, injury prone rosicky, vermaelen etc, incosistent walcott…..no wonder we were beaten up by every top flight team in the legue last season, we are just not good anymore!!!!!!!

That was last season……..I’ve been going to The Arsenal for 59 years and I can say that this the best in-depth squad that I’ve ever seen in all those years…… This lot will win trophies evev without any new signings!

better than our double winning team of 98 of the invincibles? you literally can’t be serious. we havent got any players in our entire squad who’d be a certain starter for the invincibles, not one. a few players in our squad might make the invincibles bench and get some appearances. perhaps 3 or 4 of them in the entire squad………..

@Len 68. No disrespect , but perhaps it’s time to get new glasses Len. Three of our midfielders are injury prone. Rosicky , Diaby and Wilshere. We have one true striker to speak of in Giroud. The right back , Sagna had two leg breaks , and his back up Jenkinson is still learning his position . Arteta , bless his hart, is being played out of position by Wenger for lack of proper DM. We have a good enough squad for one competition , maybe. Here’s what’s gonna happen Len. As soon as we start playing twice a week ,you’ll realize how short and thin our squad is. The physicality of the Premier League, our posesion based technical style of play and poor refereeing dictates the urgency for capable back-ups which we don’t have. Last season Cazorla started fantastically but because he was overplayed ( out of necessity ), his form dipped noticeably . Wenger’s former partner in crime from the invincible era, Dein said it himself last season ,that this was the weakest Arsenal squad under Wenger yet. I’m not sure what you’re basing your optimism on , a handful of meaningless victories against inferior opposition ?
