As far as we are aware, Arsene Wenger is keen to add depth to his squad this summer, as well as find a suitable replacement for Alex Song, who left for Barcelona last year.
Mikel Arteta filled the role vacated by the Cameroon international, but the Spaniard is not a natural holding midfielder – hence the need for Wenger to sign an anchorman this summer.
A midfielder heavily linked to Arsenal this time last year was Yann M’Vila, who was then playing for Rennes.
The 22-year-old eventually sealed a £9.6 million January move to Russian outfit Rubin Kazan.
However, the French midfielder could well be on the move again this summer following a torrid time at Kazan.
Since his winter switch to the Russian club, M’Vila has made just five appearances (four as a starter), this due to recurring knee problems.
But even though he has featured so little, M’Vila has attracted the interest of Anzhi, who are considering a move for the French enforcer.
So with Arsenal on the lookout for a defensive midfielder this summer and M’Vila struggling to settle in Russia, should we reignite our interest in him?
To be honest, considering he is tied down to Kazan until 2017, the Russian club would more than likely demand a big transfer fee to even think about selling M’Vila.
I would rather our club just splash out £23 million for Marouane Fellaini, who is already a proven Premier League midfielder, and move on to our other top targets this summer.
