Gonzalo HiguainGonzalo Higuain’s brother and agent Nicholas recently admitted that the Real Madrid striker is ‘close’ to sealing a £22 million summer move to Arsenal.

This is great to hear. Many Arsenal fans rate the 25-year-old highly and are hoping to see him at The Emirates next season. Hopefully, firing us to silverware.

Lee Dixon reckons Higuain would be an excellent signing for his former club, should they pull it off.

The BBC pundit believes the Real striker will score goals and create chances, and I am inclined to agree with him.

However, there are some people out there that beg to differ, like Tony Adams.

The former Arsenal captain believes the club should stay clear of ‘cast-offs’, players that are not wanted by the best teams, and Higuain is, according to Adams, one of these players.

Higuain has been very consistent in front of goal for Real Madrid since signing for them back in 2007 from River Plate.

Despite racking up 48 appearances in all competitions for Real last season (30 as a starter), the Argentine was unable to attain a regular place in the starting line-up and pretty much played second fiddle to Karim Benzema.

Higuain managed to find the net 18 times and assisted eigthts – not a bad return taking into account he wasn’t first-choice under then Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho.

We could well do with a prolific striker coming in this summer, and I honestly believe Higuain is one of them, and would fit the bill at Arsenal.

However, others may see him as a waste of money and a chance not worth taking, like Adams.

So what do you guys reckon?

Do you agree with Dixon? That Higuain would be a great signing for the club and will score many goals for us next season?

Or are you inclined to agree with Adams? That we should stay away from rejects and ‘cast-offs’?

Everyone is missing one thing Arsenal will not pay big money before preseason starts. Think about it having to pay someone’s wages before the preseason. They will start to sign players from the 1st of July. Don’t listen to talkspurs they r a bunch of idiots!

Higuain will definitely be a kind of prolific striker arsenal need . We need a front who convert average of numerous chances our team create and I think higuain is one . Arsenal keep creating chances but no good converter , Eversince thiery henry left the club such space hasn’t been filled and Edoardo could have been one but unfortunately he was woed by injuries .So getting a player like higuain is a welcome developement .

    Higuain is best

Henry was a cast off and Cesc was also in a smaller way. There were plenty of such cases here. Big names don’t guarantee success such as the unfortunate Arshavin and F Torres
