Gunners weigh up move for Polish full-back

|

Lukasz PiszczekArsenal are weighing up a move for Dortmund full-back Lukasz Piszczek, according to The Independent.

With Bacary Sagna’s future at The Emirates in doubt, Arsene Wenger has been keeping an eye out for a potential replacement for the French right-back and has reportedly sent club scouts to watch Piszczek on a number of occasions this season.

Sagna’s contract is set to expire at the end of next season’s campaign but Arsenal are unlikely to offer the 30-year-old anything more than a one-year extension.

Wenger would like to keep hold of the experienced Sagna, but with PSG, Monaco and Inter Milan all reportedly interested in his services and no signs of the France international renewing his deal at The Emirates, Wenger may well be forced to dip into the market this summer and sign an able replacement.

Piszczek, 27, is the latest right-back to be added to Wenger’s transfer list but the Poland international’s contract at Dortmund does not expire until 2016 and is valued at around £12 million – a fee Wenger could easily part with this summer as he has been promised a £70 million warchest to improve the current squad.

A move for Piszczek, who has made 42 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund so far this season, or any other right-back Wenger has in mind, will solely depend on whether Sagna is sold at the end of the season.

  • Its time to see someone replace Sagna. He has really lost it although i dont blame him much

  • James says:

He would be a superb signing. Outstanding defender and far more talented offensively than Sagna.

Bringing in Rene Adler and Lukas Piszczek from the Bundesliga would be great business.
