|

Arsenal NewcastleHere are 11 things you should know about Newcastle and Arsenal prior to kick-off this afternoon at St James’ Park:

1. The last time Newcastle and Arsenal met, Arsene Wenger’s men won 7-3 – this is the only time The Magpies have conceded seven goals in a Premier League match.

2. In their last 11 Premier League meetings, Newcastle have only won once against Arsenal (W1 D5 L5).

3. Newcastle have failed to find the net in their last two Premier League home games. The last time they failed to score in three in a row was back in August 2007.

4. Newcastle have only managed to notch up just one final game of the season win in their last 10 previous campaigns (W1 D5 L4).

5. Only relegated Wigan (37) and Reading (33) have conceded more goals at home than Newcastle this season (30).

6. Arsenal won four Premier League away games on the bounce. The last time they recorded five wins in a row away from home was back in September 2004.

7. Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski have all scored 10 or more goals in the Premier League this season, meaning The Gunners are only the fourth side in history to have four players reach double figures in a single campaign.

8. Only four players have managed to reach double figures in both goal and assist categories this season, two of which are Arsenal’s Walcott (14 goals, 10 assists) and Cazorla (12 goals, 11 assists).

9. Cazorla recorded four assists in Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Wigan in midweek, becoming only the fourth player in the last 10 Premier League seasons to do this.

10. If only the second half of Premier League matches counted this season, Arsenal would be top with 71 points, three points ahead of Manchester City.

11. Arsenal have the best defensive record away from home this season, conceding just 14 goals to date.
