German shot-stopper ‘honoured’ by Arsenal link

|

Rene AdlerHamburg goalkeeper Rene Adler recently admitted that it is an ‘honour’ to be linked with a possible move to Arsenal, reports the Metro.

The 28-year-old German is thought to be one of Arsene Wenger’s top targets this summer, with the north London club looking to recruit a reliable first-choice shot-stopper for next season’s campaign.

And it is now believed that Wenger is ready to offer Hamburg around a £5 million offer for Adler’s services, who hinted he would consider a move to The Emirates at the end of the season:

‘For any player it is an honour [to be linked with Arsenal].

‘It is something that inspires me even more, and it is not distracting me.’

Hamburg signed Adler on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen last year and the Bundesliga outfit could well sell the 6’3’’ German international if the price was right.

However, no contact has yet been made between the two clubs according to Hamburg’s sporting director Frank Arnesen:

‘I know Arsenal are looking for a goalkeeper, but we’ve not been contacted.’

Known for his quick reactions, distribution and aerial ability, Adler has made 30 appearances in all competitions for Hamburg so far this season.
