Arsenal ‘open talks’ with Fiorentina over star man

|

JoveticArsenal have reportedly opened talks with Fiorentina over a possible move for Stevan Jovetic, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with the Montenegro international and is seems Arsene Wenger has identified the 23-year-old as his top target this summer.

It is believed Fiorentina are demanding in the excess of £20 million for their star forward, who is also being monitored by Juventus.

But it seems Arsene Wenger and co. are trying to seal the deal as early as possible before interest in Jovetic increases.

It’s understood Jovetic is keen on a move to Arsenal but it may all depend on whether Wenger’s side finish in the top four this season.

Jovetic has been in productive form this season for Fiorentina, finding the net 12 times and contributing four assists in 26 Serie A appearances.

We could certainly do with some reinforcements upfront!

Let’s see if this move actually transpires or just gets swept under the rug.

am i missing something with this fella? his stats in a weaker league are certainly not impressive for a striker. sure they are better than chamberlain’s and gervinho’s but not better than theo, poldi or girouds. he certainly wont take the place of santi either, so where is he going to play? from the bench?

for me (and wenger) if everyone is fit, its basically between theo, poldi, santi and jack for 3 places as it is, with poldi the current favourite to miss out for wenger.

in diaby and jacks absence, rambo has taken a firm grip on the place alongside arteta and unless, wenger decides to omit diaby for next season i cannot see that changing too much. coquelin is the back up and i believe frimpong will be diabys replacement and possibly aneke.

in defence i see sagna, djourou, squillaci and santos leaving but only a right back and a centreback joining. though perhaps wenger might go for another young centre back to replace angha, boateng and hajrovic.

in goal i reckon, fabianski and shea will be released and mannone will be sold. i think a keeper will be signed and martinez will join the 1st team squad.

i take it you have not seen him play. his played as a winger or behind the striker. he link up play passing is great he can finishe his stats are good for a team like florentina. if he was to start as a CF At arsenal he would get goals week in week out with having good players assisting him.

i have to admit i have only seen him play around 30 times for both club and country. each time he failed to score and failed to assist. i just wonder if you have seen him play? and why you think we need a link man? do you also think that fiorentina does not have good players?

i just think for £20m+ there are far better players out there and more suited to what we need.

for me he is not better than walcott, giroud, podolski or cazorla – that is all i am saying. personally i want to see us sign players that are better than those 4!!

It’s good to hear that arsenal is chasing a striker, we need atleast 3 of them and 2 d/m to boost the squard, but now the problem with wenger is that he’s going to play them out of their prefered positions like he has done to podolsky this season.

Suarez scored 11 goals last season and he has scored 23 with four games to go alredy this shows Jovetic’s goal scoring skills has been hurt by being played as a second striker like that of suarez when he was playing behind Carrol.

I don’t understand the hype about this guy, if we were talking about Negredo I would be like a kid on Christmas eve.
Negredo has more goals in a more competitive league, fast and strong he is perfect for the PL and can see the goal with his eyes closed.
