Put him on top of your wish-list Wenger!

Simon MignoletHere’s something that should put Arsene Wenger on red alert – Simon Mignolet wants to move to a bigger club and play at a higher level.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper has been arguably one of Sunderland’s best performers this season and will no doubt attract the attentions of the ‘bigger’ clubs in the Premier League following his agent’s latest claim.

It is believed Mignolet is willing to leave Sunderland in order to gain international recognition and play in Europe, according to his representative Guy Vandersmissen:

‘Our ambition is for Simon to play somewhere that he can engage in competition with Thibaut Courtois for the place in goal for Belgium.

‘Courtois is fortunate that he is playing for a team that has been doing well lately.’

We could very well do with another goalkeeper coming in this summer, as Wojciech Szczesny is, realistically, our only recognised shot-stopper at the club, the only one we can have faith in! And because he has no real competition for his spot in the side, the Poland international need not worry about having a poor game.

Mignolet would be an ideal signing for Arsenal and hopefully Wenger answers the Belgian’s call this summer.

i think begovic would be a better option,

I think szczesny is doing fine. Lets not forget that he’s still only 22 and despite this recent slump in form is still a damn sight better than some of the other “top” goalies out there. De Gea included (also 22) Plus Mignolet is only just starting to show class. When he was szczesny’s age, he was rubbish. Lets give our boy the credit he deserves and stop all this speculation

Er……rubbish?! Sorry Big-D, but Mignolet was never “rubbish”. You obviously never saw him play before he appeared on the sports media radar. He always looked to have potential, always was an excellent ‘shot-stopper’, and just needed to mature and develop his decision making. But rubbish…Nah!

Agreed, szcezny should be our number 1 for many years to come.Remember alex manninger? His talent withered on the vine waiting for David Seaman to retire.ps our keeper would probably do a lot better if he wasnt exposed so often, lukic and seamsn often had howlers and look at the defences they had in front of them

Ter Stegen is by far the best goalkeeper around at the moment…

Some people never listen. He,s already said he doesn’t wanna leave! It was his agent obviously trying 2 line his pockets

  • Andy says:

Unlikely, he won’t want to just become a backup or squad player. Plus he wants to go somewhere where they win things.

  • Kevin Bell says:

I can’t see him going to Arsenal. If he has true ambition he’d go to a club that wins trophies.
