Arsenal are among a host of clubs around Europe tracking Atheltic Bilbao’s Fernando Amorebieta, according to SkySports.com.
The 27-year-old centre-back looks set to leave in the summer on a Bosman after failing to agree a new deal with the La Liga outfit, with the likes of Liverpool, Everton, AC Milan and Barcelona all said to be monitoring the situation at San Mames.
Amorebieta, who has won eight caps for Venezuela, has made over 190 La Liga appearances for Bilbao since making the breakthrough in the first-team back in 2005, and is regarded as one of the most assured defenders in Spain.
Despite being a consistent performer for Bilbao over the years, Amorebieta is also known for his recklessness. Last season alone, the Venezuelan received 16 yellow and three red cards in 50 appearances – in all competitions – for Bilbao.
Arsene Wenger may well keep an eye on Amorebieta’s situation, as the Frenchman could snap him up for nothing in the summer.
