Why Arsenal must sign this Birmingham starlet now

A few days ago, Jack Butland claimed he is ready to play at the highest level.

Arsenal have reportedly been interested in the 19-year-old in the past and with no real competitor for Wojciech Szczesny’s number one jersey at The Emirates, should Arsene Wenger prepare a bid for the promising shot-stopper?

I believe so.

Having watched him during the London Olympics over the summer and a few games for the Blues already this season, I think his statement is an accurate.

Butland has all the qualities to succeed at the top level and even push Joe Hart for the number one spot in the England line-up in the near future.

The 6’5’’ keeper has great reflexes, aerial ability, communication skills and commands his box extremely well for someone so young.

The Daily Mirror reported he is valued at around £6 million and Birmingham boss Lee Clark may have to sell him due to the Championship side’s financial difficulties. So why not make a move for the England international?

Butland would be an excellent signing in my opinion and would certainly keep Szczesny on his toes, as well as challenge for the Pole’s spot in the starting line-up.

It, in my opinion, would be foolish not to make a move for the English starlet after his latest comments.

Do you reckon Arsenal should step in and try and sign Butland?

He’ll end up at United, or Poo. De Gea is trash, Butland much better, but if Wenger brings in another keeper, he’ll have experience.

    Sadly, no Butland.

Guys, as a Bluenose we do not want to see Jack leave the club, but we understand that with the parlous financial state of the club, he is definitely for sale come January. I have watched him this season and can assure you that he is certainly on form. He makes brilliant saves and without him we would be sat in the relegation zone. Who buys him and for how much is of no consequence as the money will be trousered by the dodgy dealers who are currently “running” our club, but to put the record straight, have no doubt he will make England No 1.

I’m another Blues fan watching this story with interest. I have no doubt that Butland will be touted round every club in the country come January. He’ll not sign for Arsenal though. Bergs is right. You’ll go for experience.
Man City I think will offer more than anyone for him. Bad move for his career, good move for his wallet.
