48 days to prove he is still the right man for the job

|

Although they are huge games it’s not all about the results, but what the Frenchman does in the market. There is simply no more time for this ‘building for the future’ BS that we have seen for the last seven years. I want there to be an Arsenal to support in 10-15 years time, and the only way we are going to get to that point is to deal with it now. Changes need to occur ASAP.

Fact is, we need to bring in quality players, not mediocre ones and we need to get rid of the deadwood.

Off the top of my head, there are seven players that need to be shown the door next month:

Gervinho, Marouane Chamakh, Sebastien Squillaci, Nicklas Bendtner, Denilson, Andrey Arshavin, Park Chu-Young.

There may be others added to that list but these are seven names that simply have no future at Arsenal and are currently cluttering up our wage bill. My rough guess is that these players combined are currently draining us of £330,000-a-week! Obviously some of this is being paid by clubs where the player is on loan, but still this works out at a staggering £17 million-a-year.

Fortunately for us Squillaci and Arshavin’s contracts both expire in July. However, Arsenal could successfully payoff the remaining few months of there contracts and get rid of them early if they wanted to. The harder work would be to offload Denilson, Chamakh and Bendtner, who all have a year to go on their deals, while Gervinho and Park both have two.

Wenger’s belief in Gervinho is quite staggering to me. It could be a ploy to get him playing in the ACON just so that he is gone for as long as possible and if it is hats of to the man, we all want him gone.

Question is – can Arsenal sell any of these players in January?

Denilson and Bendtner are both currently on loan so they won’t go anywhere at the moment. However, Arsenal could look to simply sell Bendtner to Juventus if the Italians are interested in him.

Then it is just up to Wenger to bring in the required players. Let’s just bare in mind that the last player Arsenal signed in the January transfer window (not including Thierry Henry’s loan last season) was Andrey Arshavin back in 2009.

So Arsenal have got to sign, in my opinion, at least three quality players.

The players Arsenal could sign have all pretty much been linked with a move to us – Demba Ba, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar or Wilfried Zaha up front.

To strengthen our midfield I would like to see Marouane Fellaini come in. However, this will solely depend on Arsenal qualifying for the Champions League next season.

In closing, I think January, for many, if not all Arsenal fans, will determine the future of Wenger and Arsenal FC.

  • If WENGER AND THE BOARD wouldn’t listen to us the we the FANS NEED TO BOYCOTT the stadium. We shd leave Wenger and the Board to watch their own matches coupled with poor performances. Another trophiless season awaits us. Sum1 should tell Wenger and the board that our beloved team is older than them as such they shd listen 2 advise.

The record speaks for itself. The owner is not in the winning business with any of his teams, why should Arsenal be any different to him. Everyone on staff and the board wants to block Usmanov because he will fire every last one of them except the Chef and the Tea Lady. Arsenal will fail to qualify for Champs League this year or next and it will become impossible to attract top players even if they pay them big money because the stars have no faith in Arsenal’s will to win. at the point, the measure of reality will be taken by all and Kroenke will sell to Usmanov. I give this scenario 2 years to all go down. Then Usmanov hires best coach available and brings in a director of football. within 2 years Arsenal will be in serious contention for 0prem and CL.
