Arsenal could reignite their interest in long-term target Mario Gotze after reports in Germany suggest that the Borussia Dortmund starlet has a release fee clause of £30 million in his current contract.

The 20-year-old German international was linked with a move away from the Westfalenstadion last summer, with the likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid and Manchester all keen on the playmaker’s services.

The Gunners reportedly offered the Bundesliga champions a hefty sum for Gotze, who signed an improved deal in March until 2016, last summer. But the bid was turned down.

However, according to German newspaper BILD, the new contract includes a release clause of £30 million, which should encourage Arsene Wenger and co. to go back in for Gotze. If this proves to be the case then they will need to act quick as, reportedly, the clause expires in July, meaning any interested clubs must submit a written offer by the end of April next year.

If these reports are to be believed then Dortmund will have a dogged fight on their hands to keep their star man.

There is no doubt in my mind that you will see many clubs around Europe, during the winter window, table a bid, or register their interest in Gotze.

I feel he is bound for spain with little hope of it being manchester and even less in london……I hope i’m wrong and i get to see him in an arsenal shirt……..wiltshere, cazorla ang gotze hmmmmmmm tasty! I just dont see it happening i recon he will end up in madrid, with mourinho and ronaldo both reported to leave in summer madrid have some remodling to do and you get the impression gotze would help fill the void and appease the madrid fans.

Arsenal can’t buy him. Wenger buys only cheap player who he will sell after 3 years. its not about winning trophy

There is so much rumours going around about Gotze that I am considering them as jokes against Mr Wenger and his Board who are still keen on clearing the debt on the Emirate Staduim.

One thing Mr Wenger has to do is to find during the January transfers a top player to replace Arteta who in my opinion is slow, this was evident against Everton and some previous games, keeping the ball long at his feet before delivering is slowing the attack.

Mr Wenger has taken risks when he played Fabregas at the age of 16/17, I am sure there are 2 young germans who according to reports could be given the chance instead of Arteta if the club is not prepared to buy a top quality playmaker.

For now until we find some form,I would stick Walcott on one wing, Oxlade_Chamberlain on the other and place the more mobile Podolski in the centre.
I have sympathy for Arteta,as he has drawn the short straw in playing as the defensive midfielder. It might be worth while giving cazorla the weekend off and moving Arteta forward. Coquelin could come in as a shield for the back four.If the balance tomorrow isnt right Swansea could cause a lot of problems with their possession football, although they wont score more than 1 goal if at all.Now we need to start converting draws into wins
