Andrey Arshavin has played down talks of a possible summer move to QPR, but would be prepared to move to Turkey, according to his agent.

The 31-year-old Russian is being linked with a move away from The Emirates following his short loan spell at former club Zenit St Petersburg last season, and reports suggest Mark Hughes’ side are keen on the diminutive forward.

However, Arshavin is not thinking about a move to Loftus Road this summer, but did hint that he could be leaving the north London club in the near future:

‘That’s all ‘virtual news’.

‘At the moment I am an Arsenal player, and I’ve just arrived for pre-season with them.’

He added:

‘In this life you should never say never.’

His agent Dennis Lachter confirmed Arshavin would consider a move to Turkey.

Quoted on SkySports.com, he said:

‘We have no problem going to Turkey.’

In all honesty, I will be very surprised to see Arshavin in an Arsenal shirt this season, especially after signing Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla. Plus, he is well down the pecking order, hence his loan move to Zenit during the second half of last season.

He’ll probs feature in the minor Cup competitions and get some game time in the Premier League if he does stay, but I doubt he will after what has transpired already this summer.

to be totally honest if all you are going to get for arshavin is £4m, i would rather keep him. we are not going to get a replacement of his quality for £4m. however, if wenger is looking to sell all of squillaci, arshavin, vela(already gone) park, bendtner and chamakh instead of selling rvp or song to recoup cash or to raise enough to buy another top player or two, then i am all over that. if you take rvp, song and 6 mentioned out of the equation, we are then short again. even if we retained rvp and song but lost all the 6 we are still short in numbers. losing rvp and song but keeping the 6 leaves us short in quaity and still 1 over.

I don’t necessarily agree wth the other QPR fan about us finishing higher than you, think he may be on the wind up but i do agree with him about not wanting Arshavin. Too inconsistant and only ever seems to try for Russia.

    No thanks.

oh and by the way, Mackie isn’t a striker, it’s ok, many people that dont do any research get this wrong and you missed our best striker out of that list in Cisse!
