Sink or swim time for this Frenchman?

Abou Diaby needs to stay injury-free if he wants to remain at Arsenal. This isn’t just my view, it’s also Diaby’s!

The 26-year-old featured just five times for the Gunners last season after suffering a number of injuries to his calf and hamstring.

The box-to-box midfielder’s contract expires next summer, and the Frenchman knows that he must keep off the treatment table if he wants to stay at The Emirates.

He was quoted in The Sun saying:

‘It is a crucial season and it is really important for me to be back strong and have a very good year.’

For me, I’m surprised he’s still an Arsenal player – I would have sold him a few seasons ago to be honest.

Granted, his injuries may have hindered his progress over the years and I do feel sorry for players that are injury-prone, but I don’t think he is necessarily needed at the club anymore, especially if Yann M’Vila is signed.

If Arsene Wenger is not going to get rid of him this summer then Diaby will have to step it up a gear or two and keep fit.

But with one year left on his contract, I just feel it would be best for the club in general to cash in on the player and put it towards another.

Sink or Swim time for Abou!

Never mind sink or swim for Diaby.

It’ll be sink or swim for the other Frenchman if we have a poor start.

This is happening all over again. He will be fit for the season, have an amazing season and the he will want to be the highest player at the club. We will either sell him or he will go on a free.

if we go back 2 or 3 seasons we would be having this same diccussion only abour RVP. Cant u ppl see that like rvp if diaby can overcome this and stay fit he would contribute massivley to the team. Anyway this is my view decide for yourselves.

He will be a decent alternative to have on the bench nothing more

Im certain he has 2 years left. where are u getting 1 year from?

  • Arsene says:

My guess is that he will have an amazing season and then will not sign a new contract and leave to Italy or mancity. Sounds familiar?

Diaby has talent and has been injured a lot. If he stays fit he will bring power and creativity to the midfield. He showed over the pre-season games that he can be influential for us. The trick for Wenger is to use him at the right time and keep him fit with the midfield available to us this should not be too much of a problem.

Agree with double gooner. If the gunners can’t challenge make it game over for the other French man.He has wasted too much time to get the gunners going.
There was an article asking whether the gunners shd play samba soccer. The trouble is Wenger asks his players to play pretty soccer before winning soccer. That is why RVP has lost faith in him .
Win your games first . That shd be the no.1 priority. Then if you can,add samba/rhumba/cha cha cha, etc.
