Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has urged Robin van Persie to move to Manchester if he wants to win silverware.

But Yorke, who won three Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a Champions League with United, did not mention which of the two Manchester clubs would best suit the 28-year-old Dutchman.

Earlier this month, Van Persie told the Arsenal faithful that he will not be renewing his existing contract at The Emirates, leaving Arsene Wenger and the club in yet another summer dilemma.

However, Yorke thinks Van Persie has come to the stage of his career where he needs to consider turning his goal-scoring prowess into trophies:

The ex-Trinidad and Tobago international told The Sun:

‘He’s at a crucial stage of his career – and what a remarkable season he has just had.

‘When you do that, you want to win tropies – and the city of Manchester is the place to be if you are going to try to win something.

‘I think it’s a personal choice and nowadays it is about money.’

He added:

‘But I don’t think you will go wrong by going to either of those two teams in Manchester.’

Juventus, AC Milan and Real Madrid are all believed to be interested in Van Persie, and I for one am hoping he moves abroad.

But if he wants to stay in England then I would prefer him to play for the red half of Manchester, rather than join the money-grabbing gang at City!
