Arsenal face competition from Malaga for French ace

|

Arsenal could be priced out of a move for Olivier Giroud this summer after it has emerged that mega-rich Malaga are interested in the Montpellier striker.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for Giroud, who scored 21 goals in 36 Ligue 1 appearances and helped Montpellier lift the French title last season.

But according to Spanish sports paper AS, as reported by talkSPORT, Malaga have targeted the 25-year-old as a potential suitor for the recently retired Ruud van Nistelrooy.

With news coming in that Malaga are now tracking their prized asset, Montpellier will more than likely start a bidding war between the two clubs.

Unfortunately, if this does occur, Arsenal will not be signing the in-demand striker this summer.

I would love to see Giroud come in and strengthen our strike force this summer, but we will stand very little chance of acquiring him if teams like Malaga (who bleed money) are interested.

Probably it’s time for Wenger to focus his attention elsewhere?

Thought he had a buyout clause of £13m? Even if Malaga offer him double the wages, i’m confident he’d choose to join Arsenal.

Can only see this happening if Van Persie leaves, to be honest.
