Should we attempt to nab this Dortmund playmaker from under United’s nose?

Once again the transfer rumours are heating up. The latest player linked with a move to the Premier League is Manchester United target Shinji Kagawa, who recently announced that he will not be extending his current contract with Borussia Dortmund which is due to expire at the end of next season.

Dortmund director Michael Zorc had this to say about the situation:

‘I spoke to Shinji and his advisor last week and to date he is not willing to extend his contract.

‘We have a Plan A and B and we will follow one of them. We won’t gamble, but he has a specific career plan and he plans to play in England.

‘We have to accept that, even if we don’t find it good.’

Question is, should Arsenal look to try and acquire the Japan international from under United’s nose this summer? In my opinion, I think we should keep and eye on him, and a potential move will, I think, depend on what happens with to our current midfield and if we actually sign our targets.

It is thought Dortmund will be looking for a fee as little as £5 million for Kagawa and both Arsenal and United, as well as any other interested club, stand a good chance of signing the 23-year-old.

No matter what the outcome, The Bundesliga club will be sad to see the talented midfielder leave, as he has scored 16 goals and bagged 10 assists in 40 games for them this year, an impressive record to say the very least.

It was announced yesterday that Arsenal have officially signed Lukas Podolski from FC Koln and Shinji Kagawa could make be another great signing for the Gunners.

So, should we attempt to lure the Dortmund playmaker to The Emirates this summer?

No chance Dortmund will sell Kagawa for as little as £5m. They’d be better off keeping him for another season to help them win another Bundesliga title and improve their performance in the Champions League, and run the risk of losing him for free than sell him for that low fee. Even with only a year left on his contract, he’d still cost at least £15-20m, which should still be value for money, but there’s other targets (M’Vila and Vertonghen in particular) i’d like us to acquire before him.

Funny he was bought for less than a £1million………really wish we went for him,he is such an attacking talent.

he is very good player above any one but i don’t think his cost is less than 15m. anyway he is talented and a good competent to wilsher.but in the midfield there should be another strong signing if he signs to arsnl ,just like dembele

AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. NO TIME TO WASTE ON TRANSFER ANY MORE.ALSO, THE BENCH WARMERS SHOULD BE SOLD IMMEDIATELY.

I’d love to see him at Arsenal. But it wont be for £5m. Priorities need to be Vertonghen, back up for Chesney and possibly someone like M’Villa (which personally I can’t see happening). Once the players are in – the clear out will commence

Mr Wenger has been manager for Arsenal for 16 years now, Much is said about the Arsenal Academy, but still very few local (English) players seem to make the grade. There is something wrong which have to be corrected. What I would like to see an Arsenal team mainly composed of players from the mainlad as in the past
