Could a potential swap deal be on the horizon?

|

Reports in Italy suggest AC Milan will sell Alexandre Pato in the summer and will look to replace him with in-demand striker Robin van Persie.

Corriere dello Sport claim the Serie A outfit are considering the prospect of parting ways with the 22-year-old Brazilian, who has made just 45 appearances for the Rosseneri over the past two years, and see Van Persie as an ideal replacement for the former Internacional striker.

The Milan giants have been linked with the in-demand striker over the past few weeks and will reportedly step up their pursuit of the Dutchman during the summer transfer window.

Only one thing popped up in my head when I read this rumour in the Italian newspaper and that was a player exchange, if of course Van Persie does decide to call it quits at Arsenal.

I think Milan would be foolish to get rid of Pato and visa versa our club would be idiotic not to give arguably the best striker in world football currently, Van Persie, what he wants.

However, should the Dutchman decide to leave and reckons the San Siro club is the place to be, then I would propose a straight up swap deal with the Italian club for their Brazilian international.

Despite his injuries over the last few seasons, Pato remains one of the most dynamic strikers in world football. The 5’10’’ Brazilian possesses electric pace and speed, great technical ability and also has a piercing eye for goal. When on song he is simply unplayable. 61 goals in 141 appearances for AC Milan in five seasons is pretty impressive for a player who has not yet entered his prime.

I’m not saying this deal should be done whatever happens, I’m merely suggesting another route we could possibly take should the worse occur this summer.

Van Persie for Pato? It’s not that bad of an idea…is it?

Read the article properly before you call me an idiot you prat.

I’m just giving another option for our club to think about should RVP leave, and if he does we should look to swap him for Pats

  • Ebux says:

Pato stay at your club because RVP is staying put and we ll give him whatever he demands.

  • MistaKen says:

When does he play. Why would Arsenal want a player who he spends most of his time on the bench

    • Tony Merakli says:

You don’t think he is a talented player? He’s only only the bench because he’s had a lot of injuries in the last two years. At 22, Pats is a great talent and will only get better

  • Dave says:

Given his injury history, I’m thinking off-loading RvP might be the right move regardless. His value will never be higher and as long as the funds are used to bring in a like replacement, pluss the available money from last years sales shoring up other areas, it could be in our best interests. Pato would be welcomed by me.

    • Tony Merakli says:

Funnily enough Dave I was actually stating this to my brother the other day.

RVP is a great footballer, but he’s only really had one good season for us as he’s been injured for the majority of his Arsenal career.

If he signs for us great, if he doesn’t then sell him and get in Pato.

  • Peter King Oloo says:

I say we keep RVP, & since we need an able partner for him, sign Pato. That wd b the baddest strike partnership under this Tottenham suffering planet.

  • This rumors should die immediately, because arsenal should not be feeder team to other clubs.

Some of these comments are pure botty-water! how can expect players to remain loyal to a club when there is shit like this flying about… Its a good job people with some degree of intelligence will see it for what it is Bull****!!!

    • GunZ BlaziN says:

relax WARDY no need to get so angry and emotional, RVP has been brilliant this season BUT where has he been for the past 6 ????, on the treatment table.

RVP is a brilliant player but hes too injury prone, as much i dont want RVP to leave, RVP has been spotted in barcelona a few times recently, some people are saying hes looking for a house, i guess we all know whats coming, i wouldnt blame him for leaving, its not his fault for going to a team that has bigger ambitions.

Arsenal are to blame for the departures of clichy, toure,Fabregas, Nasri and now maybe van persie.

Maybe if our club showed real ambition and bought quality players instead of selling our best players then maybe some of the players that left might have thought otherwise.

This summer transfer activity will show if arsenal really mean buisness or are we just laughing stock and a feeder club.

ive followed arsenal since i was a 12yr old boy, im 30 now, this is the weakest and poorest arsenal team ive ever seen since all my time following arsenal, letting david dein go was one of the worst things that happened to arsenal, since david dein’s departure its all been down hill.

i do like alexandre pato/milan and karim benzema/madrid or even neymar/santos, these players have the wow factor and can light up stadiums, these are high class players arsenal should be bringing in but the truth is our club would rather get chamakh on a free free transfer. it just comes to show how ambitous our club really is or has been in the last 5-6 years.
