Reported Arsenal target and Real Madrid midfield Nuri Sahin is being chased by mega-rich Malaga, according to reports in Spain.

The 23-year-old joined Jose Mourinho’s side last summer from Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund on a six-year deal for a fee worth €10 million.

However, the Turkish international has struggled to settle in the Spanish capital and is finding first-team opportunities hard to come by, making just five appearances in all competitions for the La Liga leaders before suffering several injuries.

Arsenal and Chelsea were keen on the former Dortmund midfielder before he sealed his move to the Bernabeu and with news of the player’s downfall in Spain apparent, both clubs may decide to rekindle their interest in Sahin in the upcoming transfer window.

However, according to Marca, both London outfits will face stern competition from Qatari-owned Malaga, who are confident of out-bidding their rivals for Sahin’s services.

To be honest, with five-years left to run on his contract, I think it would be stupid of us to go for the German-born Turk.

Don’t get me wrong, Sahin looks a good player, but I don’t think we really need him. Besides, Malaga would just out-bid us anyway.
