Do Arsenal represent the future of football?

|

So, are Arsenal the future of football? Financially, they possibly are, but if things continue the way their going, then this might change in my opinion.

What Gazidis is doing is looking at Arsenal in the view of the clubs profits and isn’t willing to spend large amounts of money to help ease the ongoing downfall of the club.

For recent years in football, the case is – you have to spend money to make money, the best example of this, though some fans might argue, is Manchester United and Chelsea and possibly in the near future Manchester City. All three of these clubs have spent millions, season in season out, replacing big names with other high profile players in order to keep a quality squad status as well as win trophies, which brings in cash.

Even though the UEFA financial fair play rules are now in place, which states a club should spend what they make, Arsenal are very safe and have nothing to worry about. They have the highest gate takings from ticket sales in the Premier League and their continuous inclusion in the Champions League has kept them stable, that and quite a low wage bill compared to their rivals.

The Gunners should easily have enough to spend on new world-class players and should look to chip out a little more cash in the future in order to help achieve success and trophies. The more success, the better exposure and sponsorships deals, so Arsenal should look into this.

Gazidis also added:

‘We will continue to be focused on a path that will deliver not just success over one year but consistent success over a long period of time for this club, and we have been incredibly successful at doing that.’

If Gazidis is talking about the financial side of success for the club, then he has nothing to worry about. But the clubs success on the pitch will truly only work if large amounts of cash is spent on world class players. We simply can’t rely on only our youth academy products. Despite the brilliant, talented youth our club produces, a few millions spent will certainly help our cause, not all at once though, but if we spend a good amount of money season after season and bring in the players required to win things, then in the long run we’ll surely be successful.

Yes very laudable but we support the football team not the management team, the accountant or the admin team. If its all built on financial sustainability and if Fab (as Gazidis said) is one of the best midfielders in the world why didnt we sell him for more than £35m?

Yes Steve, we have seen how people like you ‘support’ a club!!! Ask yourself this , would you support a club if it went down like Portsmouth??

I support the team, I like seeing them win games Im not into supporting fiscal policies (like ours) or expansionist policies like man city. The mismanagement through the summer meant that the likes of Jenkinsons development has been set back by the need for him to play against man u. What im saying is concentrate on the football and not on economic policies. I do understand the need for sustainability but not when its an excuse for mismanagement.
