Yesterday, Turkish giants Galatasaray signed Emmanuel Eboue from Arsenal for a reported fee of £4 million.
Eboue has followed Gael Clichy, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Cesc Fabregas out of Arsenal, and there could be more departures to follow in the upcoming days.
The Ivorian right-back struggled to cement a first-team place at Arsenal last season, only making 13 Premier League appearances.
The 28-year-old’s departure from the Emirates has had mixed responses from the Arsenal faithful, many of which are wishing Eboue the best and are generally sad to see the funny man leave north London. However, some are not surprised to see him leave and were expecting this to happen a lot sooner.
As a player, I don’t think Arsenal will miss him because he wasn’t a regular at the club. If you look at him in the way of Fabregas and Clichy, who were intricate to Arsenal’s system over the past 5 seasons or so, then you do struggle to find a reason why Eboue would be missed.
This being said, I do like Eboue’s character and do respect him as a player.
Personally, I am sad to see him leave the club, but Arsenal will survive without him and I don’t think we will miss him as a player. I think we will miss his jovial antics and humour, but that’s about it.
Let’s hope that Arsenal decide to use the money from his sale – even if it is a small sum – to boost up any bids we are going to make.
Eboue made a total of 236 appearances for Arsenal, bagging 9 goals and 20 assists.
I would like to wish Eboue the best for the future and thank him for his 7 years of services to the Arsenal.
Will he be missed?
