Would this Ghanaian midfielder be an ideal signing for the Gunners?

22-year-old Ghanaian Midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has expressed an interest in a move to England this summer naming Arsenal, Man City or Chelsea as the teams he would like to join.

Asamoah has been a long-term admirer of Arsenal stating during last years World Cup that he would like a move to the Emirates, but nothing transpired.

Although Asamoah is not a household name here in England, the Ghana international does appear to be a very talented midfield player, who can play in the centre or out on the left.

Asamoah is currently contracted to Italian side Udinese, and has been named as ‘Ghana’s best kept secret’ in the past.

The question everyone is going to be asking is – do we really require him at the Emirates? In my view the answer is no.

I believe Arsene Wenger needs to target more established players this summer, rather than eyeing up a relatively unknown midfielder, which may upset fans further.

Before we go further, let’s take a look at Kwadwo Asamoah in action:

I do not know how much actual interest there is from Arsenal’s perspective, as it appears that the player himself wants a move, rather than the Gunners actually saying “we want you”, which says a lot in my book.

There are a lot of players out there that would relish the chance to play for a club like Arsenal, but there’s no need to go out and sign them all now is there? We need to bring in talent as well as experience into our side this summer, and unfortunately, Kwadwo Asamoah doesn’t fit the bill for me.

Whilst it is looking ever more likely that Arsenal are going to lose Cesc Fabregas to Barca this summer, in my view, the club, or better yet, Wenger should be looking to acquire a possible replacement for him.

Now if I had to pick out of Kwadwo Asamoah or Jose Manuel Jurado this summer, then I would pick Jurado every time.

The Spaniard looks a far more superior player than that of Asamoah, purely for the fact that he attains a lot more experience under his belt, as well as technical ability, than the Ghanaian midfielder – who is a fringe player at best for Udinese these days.

From the tiny thing you have written abt Asamoah, it is evident that you only know little abt him. This is a guy who was able step in the shoes of Michael E and Appiah and the national team all the way to CAF final and world Cup quarter final in 2008. This guy is full of experience, strength and hunger for success

yea you are absolutely right.no need to sign asamoah,it will be better if arsene sign jurado.i think hamsik is proper replacement for fab too,he has ability to fit arsenal style.

Eli, nice that you remind us Asamoah stepped into the shoes of Essien and Apiah but what has Ghana won? Nowt, I would rather nurture Finmpong than bring untested Asamoah.
