FIVE things Arsenal must do if they want Premier League success next season

|

3. Tie Nasri down to a new contract

This to me is the most important thing for Arsenal to do this summer. With club captain Cesc Fabregas stating yesterday that he is very happy at Arsenal, Samir Nasri should follow suit and sign a new deal. The hesitance of signing a new deal seems to be over money, as Wenger recently stated, personally, if I was the boss, I would just give him the money he wants and move on. We need to keep our best players at the club to ensure we can capture silverware next season.

4. The players shouldn’t be worried about going in hard.

I think that the players need to put their foot in more next season. They need to learn from Jack Wilshere, who got stuck in last season – he’ll put in a rough tackle on just about anyone. Every single opposing team adopts the ‘go in hard on Arsenal and you’ll stop them’ tactic. Well, I feel that if we should stop pussy-footing around and show teams that we aren’t scared of throwing ourselves into tackles. If we can do this then I feel teams will fear us more, just like they used too.

5. Shoot from distance.

Every team knows how to play against us now, just look at how negative Manchester City were when they came to the Emirates in January. They literally put 11 men behind the ball and played counter attack football, like every single team seems to do, yet we still try to play this perfect, pretty football. Yes, it’s magical to watch when we pull it off, like Nasri against Fulham. However, when we can’t play through teams, it is just so frustrating, and the team don’t really seem to have a second option. I would urge the team to just have a go from distance, shake it up a bit, and make the opposing team stay on their toes. Don’t get me wrong, I love watching Arsenal play their stuff, I always have and always will, but I would like to see a player just step up to the mark once in a while and have a crack from 30 yards or so, rather than make a million passes that lead to nothing. Variation would make teams think twice, and then perhaps lead to more mistakes on their part.

I think if Arsenal can change little things next season, such as bring in players who want to play for the club, get rid of players who don’t care, and sign current invaluable players to new contracts, the morale for one will be higher than ever. We need to win something next season so that we can prove the critics wrong and stick the proverbial fingers up at everyone who has doubted the team.

Arsenal fans are calling for some silverware to arrive at the club, and I believe next season might just be our year, but changes must ensue in order for this to happen in my opinion.

I truly believe that the 5 things mentioned above must occur for us to stand a chance next season, here’s hoping.

    I really hope we do not sign scott parker a really bad fit for the team and would just slow us down. If we think we need an english player in the same style push through Lansbury.
    Clichy has not come out completely could be more lies but will see.
    Agree with the back line but would like one of Samba/Cahill as I think Bartley is ready to get some 1st team experience.
    Should have played Bendtner up front in games we needed him like stoke and sunderland either alongside or instead of VP. Obviously not as good as VP but these are the teams he would have been effective against.

    THE ARSENAL PROBLEMS:

    =====================

    I don’t think according to Wenger that Arsenal team gets it 95% and lacks 5%.

    Arsenal has always been likened to playing like Barcelona and while this may look real to a layman but in the technical aspect they are not.Arsenal has a lot of inconsistent players to start with.The defense is horrible.Clichy bombs forward but lacks the finishing and is always caught out of position most times stretching the defence.Same with Bacary whose crosses are poor as well.Then comes the issue of eternal triangles.In the midfield you find Busquet(Song)…the difference here is that Busquet is quick on the ball,releases the ball once won immediately to regain his stamina and help out in case they lose the ball but Song likes to shield the ball,kills attack and very slow on his approach to the over all game.Iniesta(Wilshere)..While the former has better experience we find out that Wilshere is most times too adventurous with the ball,has to improve on his tackles and has to improve on his killer pass as well as taking shots outside the box when required. Xavi(Fabregas)The edge Xavi has over him is clear..composure,shots and technique.Xavi is the master passer and knows when to hold and release the ball something Fabregas lacks at times and also he does not try flicks that may or may not work.When you watch Barcelona play,you see that they go directly or indirectly in three’s,this helps them to win the ball back when lost and also to make short and needed passes when required.There is not much diagonal passes that we play.Barcelona hunts a team down once they lose the ball unlike Arsenal that uses the space marking technique.When you hunt a team down the player with the ball makes mistakes cos he has to calculate and no time for that.Then the forwards..Messi(Walcott)..Walcott hardly knows what is 1 or2 touch,once you give him ball even if he is choked rather than return the ball,he tends to always run with the ball,his crosses are mostly ineffective and he is very inconsistent unlike Messi who brings his fellow players into play and frees himself for the eventual pass needed to cause the damage.Walcott simply has nO technique.David Villa(Van Persie)Both are good forwards but it is far much better for a left footer to play from the flanks than in d middle because this alleviates the burden on him and avoids injuries as well.Pedro(Nasri)The problem with Nasri is that he tends to dribble all the time,hangs on to the ball too long letting opposing midfielders/defenders who have been caught out of position to return.

    THE WAY FORWARD:

    ===============

    The team has to dump the space marking technique and go for a quick close down.Marking is not for Song entirely but the whole team.Mark in three’s like Barcelona.The defence has to watch their positioning.Buying tall players may help but not the total solution to our conceding goals from set-pieces,if you win the ball quickly as you lose it,where will the set pieces come from?Again how tall are Barcelona players that are conquering the world?Then arsenal has to stop the funny habit of not taking shots outside the box.Goals are not only scored outside the box but deflections also could happen.We have to take more shots outside the box.The final third passes has to be shortened as the delay in this lets the opposing players return to positions,we have to be quicker in the final third,not passing diagonal all the time.Then the bench has to be improved.Often the case we panick when one or two regulars are not playing and this should not be the case.We need quality bench.Arsene Wenger also has to tell the players the truth when they underperform rather than make excuses for them all the time.This will make the players sit up.There should be quality competition in the team.Szcesney has to work on his ball distribution and speak with his defenders more often.

    PLAYERS WHO CAN HELP AND NEEDED:

    ================================

    Arsenal needs a central defender who is adapted to the premier league.A mobile defensive midfielder..a quick comparison can be seen in Flamini vs Song.A world class striker because Bendtner,Chamakh are not credible substitutes and do not give competition to RVP.The two flank defenders have to work on their crosses as well.Let us hope to a successful season ahead.

    I dont think a DM is required i just believe our midfielders need to be tougher in the tackle. Lansbury, Wilshire, Ramsey, Song, Frimpong and Coquelin all fit, that duty. Whereas Nasri, Fabregas, Diaby, Denilson and Rosicky are more lightweights in the tackling department. If we do buy 2 centre halves as everyone seems to think, we could also use Bartley, Djourou, Koscielney, Vermaelen and even Squillaci in other areas. Most of them could play the DM role when required against the likes of Stoke & Blackburn, etc. Some of them could also fill the full back roles, if more height was needed or less flank play.

    Up front i cannot see us signing another central striker as i believe Wenger will stick with 433. Bendtner mainly played as a winger last season, for that reason Wenger will replace him with a player more suited to the flanks. I see Willan coming in to do the same on the left with Vela also departing. Chamakh will be a 2nd choice lone striker and if either are unavaible i think Wenger will rely on Walcott, Gervinho, JET, Afobe, Arshavin, Willan to provide enough firepower in their abscense. If however, RVP is injured and Chamakh and Gervinho are at the ACN, you could well see Wenger do something in that department in the January Window.
