Why Arsenal should stay well clear of Downing this summer

|

Personally, I feel that he isn’t good enough to play for Arsenal. He just wouldn’t fit in. I don’t think he would make much of an impact, and he definitely isn’t the big money signing that Arsenal fans are looking for.

I asked a few season ticket holders that I know about the potential signing of Downing and they all gave me the same response ‘Why?’ ‘He isn’t good enough?’ ‘He isn’t the answer to the problems.’

If Arsenal are in the market for a new winger this summer, then they need to look for a player who can take on the challenge of having all the pressure on them. Someone who has a proven track record, a good eye for a pass and can hit the target. Someone who can use his pace wisely and track back. Someone who can make the fans sit up and think ‘WOW, we’ve signed a good-un here!’

I think a winger that Arsenal should try to sign is Downing’s team-mate, Ashley Young. He would be an excellent signing for the club, and could give the green light for Arshavin to leave the Emirates this summer.

Nevertheless, Arsenal should look at dismissing Stuart Downing as a potential transfer target this summer. Facts speak for themselves; he just simply isn’t good enough to play for the Gunners. He’s better off signing for Liverpool or staying at Villa and getting on with it like he has done for years, and then end his career, which will fizzle into nothing, back at Middlesbrough or something.

Personally, I can only think of one real reason why Arsenal would be interested in signing Stewart Downing, and that’s for his ability to cross a ball…that’s it! Consistency is another major problem for the winger…it’s not very good. He can shine one week and can be nowhere the next – like many current Arsenal players at the moment (Bendtner springs to mind again).

To be honest, Downing is about as useful as an armless goalkeeper.

There are certainly many other options out there for Wenger to consider this summer.

Really…..Really…..Really. He can’t be serious. He is absolutely rubbish, yes he is able to cross a ball but what else can he do, he doesn’t track back, he is weak, he is not technically gifted and most importantly he wouldn’t suit us. I agree with the writer when he says he is not the best player at Villa. Arsenal should only settle for the best, second, thrid or whatever best are not good enough. Plain are simple not good enough for a team like Arsenal.

i totally agree with d last writer,Charles Nzogbia is going. to add creativity to our partern of play.his a great player i dont know y wenger is not looking his side and hes’ gonna b very cheap.

i quite agree with u guyz, charles nzogbia would bring in somthing new.but i’d rather suggest wenger should go for Osaze of westbrom.i think d guy’s d rave of d moment n wouldnt b too expensive.he can play as a winger and back up for both attacking midfield and striker position.his performances against us this season(home and away)can attest to that.Downing would just be another average and inconsistent player.we dont need him.

Stop all this dribble! We need to send out a clear message this summer and buying an “ok” villa player. Show ambition Wenger and just buy Hazard, if we can’t persuade him to leave tiny Lille and join us then something is seriously wrong…..
