Wenger claims top four finish is not guaranteed next season – Is he right?

|

Tottenham: Will surely be considered the outsiders for a spot. Spurs are likely to lose a few top players due to no Champions League football next season. They will need to repeat what they did last season to even have a sniff at a top four finish which will be hard for them.

Liverpool: A team blooming under Kenny Dalglish and a new group of owners, Liverpool should be taken seriously. However, they still have a lot of work to do in terms of personnel, but definitely in contention next season.

These are the six teams, along with Arsenal, who will be competing for Champions League positions next season. Now having taken a look at that list, Arsenal will surely be in a dog fight for an illustrious Champions League spot next season.

I personally feel that Tottenham will find it difficult purely for the fact that top players will want Champions League football and they will be unable to offer it. So really it’s five teams and only four places up for grabs. But with the team he has got right now, Wenger can compete for those places, even if others spend heavily. Arsenal should be challenging for trophies rather than fighting for league positions in my view, and Wenger seems to agree:

‘It [finishing in the top four] is not enough, I agree. I work the whole year to win the championship. But, it is not guaranteed for anyone to be in there – not even Manchester United.’

Trophies determine how successful you are in my view. In order for this to occur Arsenal must spend. There is no need to talk about our transfer activity this summer because enough has been said. Wenger needs to look at his current team and eradicate the weak links. Wholesale changes are not needed – a few in and out would do the trick.

Everyone knows that a top four finish is not what Arsenal are all about. A club like this needs trophies. Wenger needs to spend his transfer funds wisely this summer in order to bring back the glory days to the club.

If this season was a good chance to break our trophy drought, there is no reason why next season can also be an achievable one. Wenger knows his team better than anyone else, but if he does not try and improve things this summer, then Arsenal could possibly pay a huge price. They simply can’t risk being left behind.

wenger speaks utter verbal diahorea, from these comments i come to the conclusion dont expect much from transfers this summer, can one imagine feguson coming out and saying man utd are going to find it hard to be in the top 4 next year !! i dont think so this man has negative approach to the squad with these comments and he should leave now, his words are like cancer spreading right through the team, and the fans, also i think kroenke should go to he is not interested in arsenal success he is interested in lining his own pocket and that of the shareholders, hence why they put up the price of tickets the highest in this country then wenger is now saying dont expect top 4 next year, why should anybody pay to watch then a team that he is saying is going to win nothing next season !! i might as well and go and pay to watch a team in the lower leagues at least you know you get to see a good game with players committed, to me it seems disturbing the pat rice thing, wengers comments what is really going on behind the marbel walls of highbury? because it is evident by wengers comments they will not be challenging for anything next season it really shows then where kroenke is going

I think the time is right for AW to go upstairs running the club from a business point of view, when we can get the right man to coach the winning mentality in the players.
For me , it has to be Muirino if and when he leaves Real Madrid. Many say he’s not the kind of man they want to represent the Arsenal football club but I think he’s the perfect man for the job right now. He is a winner, we all know that.
He is a fighter for his club and his players.
He will instill the missing qualities in the players to be winners and chop out the dead wood. Presently the current players have had it to easy for a couple of seasons now.
I have Questioned the Board and AW methods.
Our problems started when they sacked Dein because he had has a vision to make Arsenal a top top club, but the other board members only interested in making bags of money for themselves.
AW should of kept Ashley Cole, Flamini and Diarra, all that have the fighting spirit. It is right that we should have a British backbone in the Sqaud, let alone the team. The scouting system is currently very poor and needs 21st century restructuring.
    I could go on.
    GOONER FOR LIFE!

We are struggling to hold some of our best players and Wenger comes out with a comment like this. He is absolutely stupid our manager. Players and fans don’t want to hear this, if he believes this so much then he needs to splash the cash to ensure we make the top four next season. Another reason to splash the cash is to show the fans the clubs intent of winning things. If he spends wising and brings in the right players, you never know the players who want to leave might change their minds and stay. I say this because seeing that happen will show to the players how serious they are on winning trophies.
